Great food keeps family and friends together. I come from an unusually large family for a Singaporean, even close-knit meals would feature 25-30 people on a regular basis. I remember being a young boy with my great grandmother and seeing how she kept our large family together by cooking meals every Sunday.
I came to the realization that this loving sacrifice was a cornerstone in big gatherings whereby people come from all walks of life to enjoy the camaraderie and a great meal together. I then decided that after she left this world, I would try my best to take upon this mantle and continue the tradition.
Originals Only is an extension of that commitment, to share it with you. I’ve always believed in the healing power of food and that it is hard to find something more calming than a lovely meal after a hard day.
After starting on this adventure, we have come to realize that selling delicious bakes is a lot more than just a monetary transaction. People have come back to us, telling us how much joy the food brings into their lives and that is what makes it all worth it.
We only serve items that we are truly proud of and that are delicious. As a business, the truth of the matter is that we have to walk that fine line between financial viability and staying true to our beliefs and vision. I could never look someone straight in their eyes and say “Hey, there’s all sorts of preservatives, artificial flavorings and chemicals in these bakes.” It may work for mass produced items but definitely not for us.
Which is why we are committed to using only some of the highest quality ingredients in all of our products as much as possible, from Valrhona Grand Cru Chocolates and Cocoa Powder, Lescure Grand Cru A.O.P Cultured French Butter, to real Madagascar vanilla and even Fleur de Sel, amongst others. We want the best and we also give the best.
